According to a member of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Martti Uusitalo, in the new season, athletes from Russia will not be able to take part in the organization’s competitions.
“At the moment there are no changes, I have not received any instructions on this issue. Russian athletes will not be able to take part in FIS competitions in the new season,” Uusitalo quotes svenska.yle.fi.
As the functionary clarified, the issue of allowing Russians to compete was considered by the board of directors. The final decision will be made at the FIS Council meeting on Saturday.
Recall that at the end of February, the FIS decided to remove Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions due to the conflict in Ukraine. This decision is indefinite and remains in effect for the time being.
