On the discussion of the possible participation of Russian athletes in the Asian Games it was known in January 2023. At the same time, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) urged not to speculate about the admission of Russian athletes to the Olympic Games in 2024. Insidethegames notes that Hangzhou’s admission could be the first step towards Paris’s admission.
IOC President Thomas Bach allowed the possibility of Russian athletes participating in international tournaments in a neutral status even if they were not seen in “active support” of the Russian military operation in Ukraine. At the same time, a number of countries are protesting against the participation of Russians in the games in Paris.
