Russian army general detained on suspicion of corruption

A military court sent into custody the commander of the 1st Special Purpose Air Defense and Missile Defense Army of the Russian Army, Major General Konstantin Ogienko, suspected of bribery. This was reported by the Moscow Garrison Military Court and the 235th Garrison Military Court.
The arrest was authorized in early August, but it became publicly known only now. The deadline was then extended to November 27. It is noted that the major general did not admit guilt.
It has been previously established that Ogienko “extorted 500 thousand rubles from a citizen through a subordinate commander of a military unit in the Moscow region, which was the first part of a bribe of 30 million rubles.”
The defendant demanded an amount for “assistance” in the alienation of a land member of the Nadezhda organization, which was adjacent to a military unit.
The subordinate General Dmitry Byalyatsky, commander of the military unit, was detained by law enforcement a month earlier. He confessed and entered into an agreement to cooperate with the investigation. Bialiatski was taken into custody, but was later transferred to house arrest.
