Russian Armed Forces shot down ATACMS missiles for the first time

For the first time, Russian air defense systems shot down two ATACMS missiles supplied by the United States to Ukraine. This is stated in the daily report of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“Two US-made ATACMS operational-tactical missiles, an S-200 anti-aircraft missile converted to engage ground targets, as well as two HARM anti-radar missiles and two HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems were intercepted,” the report said.
On October 17, it became known that the United States had supplied ATACMS long-range missiles to Ukraine. On the same day, this information was confirmed by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the Russian Federation will be able to repel attacks with ATACMS missiles.
Air defense systems also shot down two MiG-29 aircraft, a Su-25 attack aircraft and an L-39 combat training aircraft of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Donetsk, Kherson and Dnepropetrovsk regions. In addition, about 50 drones were shot down in different regions of Ukraine.
In the Kupyansk direction, Russian forces repelled 15 attacks from Ukraine, five attacks by Ukrainian Armed Forces assault groups were repulsed in the Zaporozhye direction. The Russian army inflicted fire on concentrations of manpower of three brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Ugledar, Urozhainy and Staromayorsky.
October 24, official representative of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov reportedthat Russian air defense systems shot down two Ukrainian MiG-29 aircraft in different regions of Ukraine. The military also destroyed 44 unmanned aerial vehicles in the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, DPR and LPR.
