Russian and Chinese children brought two powers closer: “You are brothers and sisters”

On Friday, June 2, the Chinese Embassy in Moscow hosted a celebration on the occasion of Children’s Day. Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Russia Zhang Hanhui delivered a welcoming speech. Addressing the little guests of the holiday, the diplomat emphasized that they were “born in two great countries”: “Being world powers and permanent members of the UN Security Council, China and Russia have national strength and potential, centuries-old history, outstanding leaders and advanced ideas … like small citizens of two great world powers, you have every right to be proud of it.”
Stressing that Russian and Chinese children were born in a great era, “when the world is experiencing global change, when China and Russia are purposefully and confidently moving towards the goal of national revival,” Zhang Hanhui expressed his joy that Moscow and Beijing are moving in the process of forming a multipolar world together.
“Together we are destroying the hegemony and power politics of a certain country and by joint efforts we are building an equal and just world order. We are ready to give everything to create a wonderful future for our dear children,” said the Ambassador of China.
As parting words for the younger generation, Ambassador Zhang Hanhui used a quote from Vladimir Lenin: “You, dear guys, should try to study, study and study!” Symbolically, the head of the diplomatic mission also recalled a quote by Mao Zedong: “The world is yours and ours, but fundamentally belongs to you. You young people are full of vigor and energy, are in the prime of life and are like the sun at eight or nine in the morning. Expectations are placed on you.”
Addressing the Russian and Chinese children who attended the celebration, Zhang Hanhui called them “successors of Chinese-Russian friendship”: “Be friends! You are brothers and sisters. You will study, work together, create a wonderful future, and we, as representatives of the older generation, will do everything so as not to inflict pain and resentment on our children.”
Andrey Rudenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, also delivered a welcoming speech. Thanking the Chinese Ambassador and his wife Gao Yan for the invitation, the diplomat noted that the Chinese Embassy in Moscow is “the only one that has come up with such an excellent initiative.” Rudenko expressed hope that “the relations that have developed between Russia and China, those important events that have taken place this year, will become a guarantee that friendship between our peoples, our children will also grow stronger.”
Despite the downpour that fell that day, the atmosphere of the holiday was as warm as possible. The participants of the event could get acquainted with the peculiarities of Chinese calligraphy, painting and needlework and even try to create something on their own. And, of course, to try Chinese dishes that did not leave any guest indifferent, as well as to receive small but very pleasant souvenirs.
