The International Canoe Federation did not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete
ICF – International Canoe Federation – did not allow athletes from Russia and Belarus to compete.
This was reported by the press service of the Russian Rowing Slalom Federation.
It is noted that the ICF appeal states that the federation is working on the possibility of allowing Russians and Belarusians to participate in competitions held under the auspices of the ICF.
At the same time, it is emphasized that an important argument in making a decision is to ensure the safety of tournament participants. And the UK, France and Poland “cannot guarantee this yet.”
In April, the ICF allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete in a neutral status. The federation made the decision on non-admission after consultations with the national federations of the states that host the main competitions of the season in 2023. The World Championship in rowing slalom will be held in London, the final stage of the World Cup in Paris, and the World Championship under 23 in Krakow.
