The interaction between Russia and China on the world stage contributes to the strengthening of the fundamental principles of a multipolar world order, declared Russian Ambassador to China Igor Morgulov at a state reception at the Russian embassy in China on the occasion of Russia Day.
During his speech, Morgulov stressed that regardless of the changing international situation, the “constant of Russian foreign policy” is the comprehensive development of relations with China. The ambassador said that under the leadership of the current leaders, Russian-Chinese relations are entering a new era, they “have reached an unprecedented high level.”
This year, Morgulov noted, Russian-Chinese relations continue to develop dynamically. The Ambassador also drew attention to the accelerated expansion of bilateral trade and economic cooperation. At the same time, according to him, after the pandemic, humanitarian contacts between the countries are being actively restored.
“I can’t say enough about our interaction on the world stage. It certainly contributes to the strengthening of the fundamental principles of a multipolar world order. Moscow and Beijing proceed from the fact that in interstate relations there is no alternative to following the principle of the indivisibility of security and relying on universally recognized norms of international law, and not on an order based on rules established by no one knows who,” Morgulov said.
The ambassador stressed that Russia is grateful to “Chinese friends for a balanced position” in connection with the events in Ukraine. The Russian side appreciates Beijing’s efforts to resolve the crisis and establish peace as soon as possible, Morgulov added.
Last winter, Russian President Vladimir Putin during talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping via video link declaredthat international cooperation between the Russian Federation and China serves the formation of a just world order.
Putin pointed out that the countries “have the same view on the causes, course and logic” of the ongoing changes in the field of geopolitics. He also pointed to pressure and provocations from the West. According to the Russian leader, in such conditions, the Russian Federation and China continue to defend not only their own interests, but also those of those countries that support “a truly democratic world order.”
