Russian airlines called for extending the service life of old aircraft

The airlines have asked the Russian authorities to extend the service life of Soviet An-24 and An-26 aircraft, since there is nothing to replace them yet. The information was conveyed by “Interfax”
As Sergei Zorin, a representative of the management of Angara Airlines, said, the average age of operation of the An-24 and An-26 is 50 years. They occupy two thirds of the total fleet of Russian vessels – 95-98. In total, there are 150 domestic aircraft parked.
From documents of the State Research Institute of Civil Aviation it follows that the Soviet An-24 and An-26 aircraft will be decommissioned by 2030. But Zorin believes that this will happen earlier – by 2028, since today the depletion of aircraft life has increased. This is due to the redistribution of work volumes from foreign airliners to Russian ones.
According to Zorin, there is nothing to replace these aircraft yet, since regional airlines are betting on the Il-114-300 and TVRS-44. But they will not be able to become a full-fledged replacement for the An-24. And the first TVRS-44 aircraft will enter service only in 2027.
