Russia will begin to block the sale of expired goods

The Russian government, as an experiment, will launch a system from February 1 to August 1 that will technically block the sale of expired products. A number of dairy products, bottled drinking and mineral water, as well as beer, some low-alcohol drinks and tobacco products will fall under the experiment. In case of successful completion of the experiment, the purchase of goods illegally admitted for sale or expired will be blocked by cash registers with specially developed software.
AT message The press service notes that the experiment will be held on a voluntary basis. Its task is to work out a mechanism for exchanging information about labeled products between retail outlets and an information system for monitoring the circulation of goods subject to mandatory labeling.
In addition to food products, smoking, chewing and snuff tobacco, smoking mixtures for hookah, both containing tobacco and not, as well as electronic tobacco heating systems were selected for the experiment.
Until the end of the year, the government has promised to provide entrepreneurs with access to information about their potential violations, from flaws in product certification processes to late sales. As part of the long-term fight against counterfeiting, a digital product labeling system has been launched in Russia. Now it applies to dairy products, bottled water, medicines, tobacco, fur products, shoes, etc.
