Russia warns of risks of transferring nuclear submarines to Australia

The transfer of nuclear submarines to Australia under the AUKUS alliance, which also includes the United Kingdom and the United States, poses risks in the context of the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and military equipment. This statement was made on Wednesday, August 2, by Roman Ustinov, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to International Organizations in Vienna.
The diplomat pointed out that AUKUS members are ignoring calls for dialogue or are hiding under statements of intent to create an unprecedentedly reliable system of control. However, participation in it of other states is not expected.
Ustinov said that Belarus, Egypt, Indonesia, Syria, and South Africa also have concerns about this cooperation.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu warned back in April that Washington and its allies were most actively opposed to the creation of a multipolar world in the Asia-Pacific region. This was initiated by the formation of military-political blocs, like AUKUS. According to Shoigu, they are merging with NATO, which, in turn, has claimed a dominant role in this format as well.
At the same time, Australia continues to actively support Ukraine, although Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles said that at the moment there are difficulties with the supply of aircraft Ukrainian military. Nevertheless, he promised to continue to discuss his requests with Kiev.
