Japan expands sanctions against Russia

Japan has expanded the list of goods prohibited for import into Russia by 758 items as part of a new package of sanctions. The export ban will come into effect on August 9. About it reported Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan.

Wood and wood products, paper and cardboard, drawings and diagrams, stone, gypsum, cement, wool, cotton, glass, ceramics, metals (for example, copper, nickel, aluminum, lead, zinc, tin, products made from non-precious metals), products of the chemical industry, plastics, rubber and products from it, electrical goods, locomotives and wagons for railways, yachts, pleasure or sports boats and other goods.

In addition, Japan will not supply cars with an engine capacity of more than 1.9 liters and tires for large vehicles to Russia.

The fact that Japan may ban the supply of cars with an engine capacity of more than 1.9 liters was reported on July 18 by the Yomiuri newspaper.

On February 10, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, called the issue of a peace treaty with Japan closed, emphasizing the impossibility of negotiations due to Tokyo’s “openly unfriendly” position. Japan has previously joined the anti-Russian sanctions of the West, since the beginning of the special operation, it has already introduced several packages of restrictions.
