Russia urges Turkey to show restraint amid strikes on Syria

Moscow urged Ankara to exercise restraint in light of the strikes on Syrian territory. According to Alexander Lavrentyev, special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Syria, an escalation of tension in the region must not be allowed.
He noted that Turkey did not notify the Russian side about the start of the air operation in Iraq and Syria, this topic will be discussed during the talks in Astana.
“We hope to convince our Turkish partners to refrain from using excessive force on Syrian territory,” said the special envoy of the Russian president.
The day before, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Russia allegedly not doing their “obligations” in terms of the destruction of terrorists in northern Syria and Iraq.
