Russian Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev said that the Russian Federation would send 25,000 to 50,000 tons of grain to six African countries free of charge. During the Russia-Africa summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced gratuitous deliveries of 25-50 thousand tons of grain for Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Mali, Somalia, the Central African Republic and Eritrea within three to four months.
“As our president said, in addition to being a fairly reliable partner in terms of grain supplies to the world market, we will also supply grain to African countries free of charge. So far, we are talking about six countries and about volumes from 25 to 50 thousand tons,” Mr. Patrushev told reporters (quoted from “Prime”). He clarified that the deliveries will be carried out in the near future.
Since July 18, Russia has suspended participation in the grain deal due to non-fulfillment of its conditions. Russian President Vladimir Putin promisedthat the Russian Federation will share with Africa part of the income from rising prices after leaving the grain deal.
