Russia to identify all those involved in sabotage against Nord Stream - Nebenzya

The Russian authorities will find out who is involved in the sabotage against the Nord Stream, said the representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Vasily Nebenzya.

On September 26, there was a leak on one of the lines of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline in the exclusive economic zone of Denmark. The operating company Nord Stream AG reported a pressure drop on both lines of Nord Stream.

During his speech at a meeting of the Security Council, held at the initiative of the Russian Federation, Nebenzya noted that an action of such complexity could not have been carried out by ordinary terrorists.

According to the diplomat, this is completely obvious to Russia, and Moscow considers the incident a deliberate sabotage against a key Russian infrastructure facility. “We will definitely identify all those involved in this sabotage,” he said.

Nebenzya said that Moscow was in favor of a comprehensive investigation into the incident, and called on Western countries to refrain from “Russophobic, devoid of common sense verbal balancing act”, which has already been noted when considering Ukraine’s attacks on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

“Any international investigation of what happened can claim to be objective only if Russia is involved in it,” he said.

Earlier, Gazprom spokesman Sergey Kupriyanov, speaking via video link at a meeting of the UN Security Council, said that the company is currently looking for options to restore the Nord Stream system, but it is currently impossible to estimate the time frame for restoring the system to work.
