Washington, along with allies and partners, is considering various options in case Russia uses nuclear weapons, said National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.
The official acknowledged that so far there are no signs in the United States indicating preparations for such a step, although “there is a risk” that Russia will consider such a possibility.
According to Sullivan, Washington is aware of the possible consequences, and has already discussed this issue with Moscow. He noted that the United States takes this issue very seriously and maintains contact with the Russian Federation.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that “the United States is the only country in the world that has twice used nuclear weapons,” and it was the Americans who created such a precedent.
