In the near future, Russia will build the Voronezh station of the missile attack warning system (SPRN) in four directions. This was told by the chief designer of the early warning system, the general director of the Vympel corporation, Sergey Boev.
According to him, the construction of stations in the south and north is already underway. “Two new directions are being developed for the deployment of radar facilities and complexes – these are the Far East and the North-West,” added Mr. Boev (quoted by TASS).
Tests of this early warning system ended at the end of 2020. The Russian early warning system includes two echelons: space and ground, consisting of a network of stations of the Voronezh type. Their main purpose is to detect and take on escort ballistic missiles fired at the territory of Russia and its allies.
