Russia tested a quantum communication channel with China for the first time

Russian scientists have for the first time established a quantum-protected channel between Russia and China using a satellite, reports the press service of MISIS University.

The experiment was reportedly carried out by scientists from MISIS University, the Russian Quantum Center (RCC) and the KuSpace Technologies company. The report states that this is the first time an experiment of this kind has taken place; during its implementation, an encryption key was successfully transmitted over a distance of more than 3,500.

A ground station in Zvenigorod was used for the experiment.

As noted by the MISiS press service, the use of such a solution significantly expands the position of Russian scientists in the development of quantum technologies. It is also indicated that technology opens up new opportunities for the wider implementation of modern solutions.

The release notes that the global market in this segment is growing by an average of 40% annually.
