The Russian authorities have expressed concern about the increased military-biological activity on the part of the West, considering it as a potential threat to national security. Sergey Ryabkov, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, stressed that this activity, which is not subject to proper control and poses an extreme danger, requires close attention from the international community.
The statement, published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry, indicates that Russia considers such activity by Western countries, including in the post-Soviet space, as a real threat to the national security of Russia and other states. The United States and its allies, using the pretext of sanitary and epidemiological assistance, are actively engaged in the construction and modernization of microbiological laboratories around the world.
Ryabkov also stressed that Russia has questions about the US military biological program in Ukraine, Moscow will insist on answers. He noted that the global biological military activities carried out by the United States only highlight the urgent need to strengthen the Convention on the Prohibition of Biological and Toxin Weapons (BTWC).
