During 2024, imported wine up to 700 rubles may disappear from domestic stores. This information was shared by the president of one of the largest wine suppliers in the Russian Federation – Simple Group – Maxim Kashirin in an interview with RBC.
According to him, such a risk appeared against the backdrop of an increase in customs duties on imported wine and due to an increase in excise taxes on still and sparkling wines.
As Kashirin noted, some distributors stocked up on products before the tariff increase, so the process of “dying” of this segment will not happen immediately.
“According to our forecasts, it will begin after the New Year holidays and will last until the beginning of 2025,” he said.
In November, Head of State Vladimir Putin signed a law increasing excise rates on wine and champagne threefold from May 1, 2024.
