Russia may begin mass production of hydraulic fracturing fleet in 2024

Serial production of the domestic hydraulic fracturing (fracturing) fleet – equipment for enhancing oil recovery from wells – may begin in 2024. Testing of a prototype is currently underway, reported TASS with reference to Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Mikhail Ivanov.
“Experimental tests were carried out once at the beginning of summer, and certain adjustments were made. At the end of September there will be another stage of bench tests, followed by field tests. We hope that from next year we will move on to mass production,” Ivanov said during the TNF Industrial and Energy Forum.
On July 25, it was reported that the need of Russian oil companies for hydraulic fracturing fleets will grow by an average of 30% per year until 2030. In total, Russia needs 170 new hydraulic fracturing fleets by 2030.
Share of hard-to-recover oil in total production in Russia growing as more available supplies dwindle. By 2030, according to the forecast of First Deputy Minister of Energy Pavel Sorokin, this figure will exceed 70%. Along with the departure of the largest manufacturers of equipment for hydraulic fracturing – Western corporations – domestic companies got up before choosing: to purchase such equipment in friendly countries or create your own.
