Russia was invited to the meeting of foreign ministers of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) countries, which will be held in North Macedonia, reported RIA Novosti Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Grushko on the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Forum.

“We received an invitation. We intend to go at the ministerial level, this is a ministerial meeting,” he answered a question from journalists.

Since the beginning of the special operation in Ukraine, Russia has repeatedly missed events within the OSCE, including due to the host country’s failure to issue visas for Russian delegations. The Russian delegation did not take part in the summer and autumn sessions of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA) in 2022, and the summer in 2023. But the Russian delegation took part in the winter session, which was held in February 2023 in Vienna.

April 3 State Duma Council accepted decision to suspend the payment of OSCE PA contributions for 2023 and re-credit for this year the contribution that Russia paid last year. State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin explained this decision by saying that Russia should not pay for something in which it did not participate.

OSCE Ministerial Meeting will take place in Skopje November 30 – December 1, 2023
