Russia has increased food supplies to friendly countries by 25% in 2022, Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko said.
“Our partners in the EU themselves, as a result of the imposed sanctions, voluntarily refused even food, which was not originally envisaged as a sanctioned product,” she noted (quote according to TASS). Under the current conditions, it was possible to increase food supplies to friendly countries by 25%.
According to Abramchenko, due to restrictions imposed on insurance, logistics, mutual settlements, Russian banks, including Rosselkhozbankturned out to be disconnected from the interbank system of mutual settlements, so the supply of mineral fertilizers or food to the EU became almost impossible.
President Vladimir Putin formerly promised help countries fight food shortages. He also noted that after sanctions were imposed on Russia, some states and global corporations used their monopoly advantages, competencies in the field of breeding, production of genetic materials to deter competitors and “aggressively conquer markets.”
March 5 Russian government approved list of unfriendly countries in response to Western sanctions. The list includes Australia, Albania, Andorra, United Kingdom, including Jersey, Anguilla, British Virgin Islands, Gibraltar, Member States of the European Union, Iceland, Canada, Liechtenstein, Micronesia, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, Republic of Korea, San Marino, North Macedonia, Singapore, USA, Taiwan (China), Ukraine, Montenegro, Switzerland, Japan. All of them imposed sanctions against Russia in connection with the start of a special operation in Ukraine.
