Russia has suspended oil exports due to a storm in the Black Sea – Kommersant

Russia has stopped oil supplies through Novorossiysk since January 14 due to a storm in the Black Sea. Since January 15, the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) has suspended shipments of petroleum products through its terminal in Novorossiysk for the same reasons, Reuters reports, citing sources.

It is clarified that the CPC connects the Kazakh oil and gas field Tengiz and several others with the marine terminal in South Ozereyevka near Novorossiysk. The company declined to comment on the suspension of the terminal.

According to the agency, Russian companies have suspended oil exports through the Black Sea since January 14 due to worsening weather conditions. According to ESIMO from the Hydrometeorological Center, waves of up to 3 m were recorded in the sea off the coast of Novorossiysk on the night of January 15. According to the department’s forecasts, waves of up to 4 m are expected from January 16.

In November 2023, due to a powerful storm in the Black Sea, Russian ships were idle for 12 days. Weather conditions disrupted the shipment of major export cargo, including oil and grain.
