Rosoboronexport is discussing with Indian enterprises the joint production of aviation weapons for the Indian Air Force. The state-owned company is not afraid of strict requirements for the import of products and requirements under the Make In India program, which provides for maximum localization of weapons production.
“Rosoboronexport is working with Indian private and public enterprises to organize joint production of aviation weapons and integrate them into the existing aviation fleet in India,” said Rosoboronexport CEO Alexander Mikheev “RIA News”.
Mr. Mikheev noted that the Russian company had previously worked according to requirements similar to Make In India. He recalled that the Russian Federation, together with Indian enterprises, provided the Indian Ministry of Defense with Su-30MKI aircraft, tanks, other armored vehicles, and shells. In addition, in India there is a plant for the production of Kalashnikov AK-203 assault rifles, which in the future should reach 100% localization.
