Russia and Comoros agree not to deploy weapons in outer space

Russia and the Comoros on Monday signed a joint statement on non-deployment of weapons in space first.
According to TASS, Vasily Nebenzya, Permanent Representative to the UN, signed the statement on behalf of the Russian Federation. His colleague in the organization Issimail Shanfi signed for Comoros.
The agency indicates that the statement was signed as part of the initiative of the Russian side, and about 30 states have joined it. In February 2021, it was reported that Russia had signed a similar statement with Sierra Leone. Previously – with Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as Argentina, Bolivia, Vietnam, Cuba, Pakistan and a number of other countries.
“These measures build confidence in cooperation in space,” Nebenzya said today. “We want it to be peaceful.”
