Russia and China are implementing 79 large joint projects and investing about $170 billion in them. About this reported TASS with reference to the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov.
“The situation is increasingly evolving from trade cooperation to investment. We have a large portfolio of investment projects, the volume of investments in these 79 projects is about $170 billion. Their joint implementation will lead to further growth in mutual trade,” the head of the Ministry of Energy emphasized.
He noted that based on the results of the first half of 2023, the growth in trade turnover between Russia and China exceeded 30%. Previously, state leaders Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping set a goal to increase trade turnover between countries to $200 billion in 2024. According to Reshetnikov’s forecast, this goal will be achieved and even exceeded in 2023.
The minister arrived in Beijing on September 19 for the 26th meeting of the Russian-Chinese subcommittee on trade and economic cooperation. During the working trip, Reshetnikov will also hold meetings with Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao, Chinese Minister of Culture and Tourism Hu Heping and other Chinese politicians.
President Vladimir Putin previously noted that his friendly and business relations with Chinese President Xi Jinping help expand bilateral cooperation between Russia and China.
