Corresponding member of the British Royal Institute for Defense Studies (RUSI) Alexander Danilyuk admitted that Russia could launch the expected large offensive as part of a special military operation in Ukraine as early as next week.
“The Russians have unambiguously planned offensive actions for February. Maybe even next week it will start,” he said on Radio NV.
He added that the offensive could start at a later date if there were problems with planning.
According to Danilyuk, the quality of Russian units will be inferior to those that participated in the hostilities on February 24, 2022. But the preparation of the offensive itself will be more thorough.
“At the same time, we must understand that we were very lucky then,” Danilyuk said, adding that “this situation will not happen again.”
“There will be normal logistics and much more. Most importantly, there will be a quantitative advantage, which was not there last year,” the analyst emphasized.
Danilyuk also urged not to expect that Western aid, announced at the January “Ramstein” will have time to enter the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Earlier, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov said that, according to his assessment, the offensive could begin by February 24, 2023.
