Rubin beat Baltika and returned to the Russian Premier League – Kommersant

Rubin Kazan players defeated Baltika Kaliningrad in the match of the 32nd round of the First League. The champion of Russia in 2008 and 2009 returned to the Russian Premier League a season after relegation.
The match, which took place in Kaliningrad, ended with the score 0:1. The only goal was scored by Marat Apshatsev (45+2). Rubin’s defender Oleg Ivanov failed to convert the penalty in the 49th minute.
After the victory, Rubin came out on top in the First League standings with 65 points. Baltika is in second place (64 points). Both teams provided exit to RPL. Vladikavkaz “Alania” (56) is in third place in the standings.
Rubin participated in the top division of the Russian Federation in 2003–2022. In 2008 and 2009 he became the champion of Russia. Baltika reached the top division for the first time in 25 years – the last time they participated in such a championship was in 1998.
