A graduate of the Moscow Russian State Humanitarian University, Alexander Zhadan, wrote his thesis in less than a day using a chat bot with artificial intelligence (AI) ChatGPT, which he subsequently spoke about on his social networks and a number of media outlets (including Kommersant FM). The leadership of the Russian State University for the Humanities promised to re-analyze Mr. Zhadan’s diploma and called for restricting access to the chatbot for educational purposes.

“An analysis by specialists and the scientific community of the Russian State Humanitarian University will be carried out … Due to concerns about the negative impact on learning, as well as concerns about the security and accuracy of the content generated by the system, it may be advisable to restrict access to ChatGPT in educational organizations,” said TASS in the press office of the university.

Yesterday, January 31, Alexander Zhadan posted a thread on his Twitter about writing diploma on the topic “Analysis and improvement of the management of the gaming organization” with the help of AI, which scored about 638 thousand views.

The student described how he gave commands in English to the chatbot to create parts of the diploma according to a prepared plan, after which he edited them himself. Several Twitter users reported that they had sent notices to the RSUH and the Ministry of Education asking them to cancel their diploma, arguing that they lacked originality in their work.

More details – in interview “Kommersant FM” with Alexander Zhadan.
