The Russian Premier League (RPL) together with the clubs decided not to postpone the 18th round of the Russian championship to 2024 due to weather conditions, said RPL President Alexander Alaev. The competition will be held on previously approved dates – from December 8 to 10.
“We called all the clubs in the morning. Everyone was in favor of playing and making a decision on possible postponements of matches within the current regulations, that is, after taking the temperature by the chief referee before the game. The tour can be postponed by a general meeting of the League by a majority vote of the clubs. Next, the decision must be approved by the RFU executive committee,” said “RB Sport” Mr. Alaev.
According to forecasts Hydrometeorological Center, on the afternoon of December 8–9, the air temperature in Moscow, where the Lokomotiv-Ural and Spartak-Krylya Sovetov matches will take place, can range from -13°C to -18°C. According to the RPL regulations, temperatures below -15°C are grounds for canceling matches. If such a temperature is recorded in the center of the field one hour before the scheduled start of the game, the decision to play it will be made by the referee after receiving written consent from both teams.
The matches of the 17th round of the RPL Lokomotiv – Zenit and CSKA – Rostov took place on December 3 in Moscow during heavy snowfall. After this, Rostov head coach Valery Karpin criticized the RPL’s decision to hold matches in such weather conditions.
