The Russian Premier League has decided to use brightly colored balls during football matches that involve snowfall.
During the recent game between Baltika and Spartak in Kaliningrad, it was snowing heavily. The white ball with orange splashes did not display well during the broadcast.
“The clubs supported the League’s proposal and voted for changes in the technical regulations regarding the possibility of using, by decision of the referee, a winter ball of a contrasting color that differs from the official playing ball of the 2023/2024 season,” the Championship notes, citing its source.
Lokomotiv and Baltika earlier played a draw in the first match of the 1/4 finals of the RPL Russian Football Cup. The match in Kaliningrad was attended by about 6,000 spectators.
