Rotor player Rizvan Akhmedkhanov explained why he chose Volgograd

The midfielder of the Volgograd football club spoke about his sports career and love for the city on the Volga.

Rizvan was born in Dagestan, where he started playing football until he followed his brother to Volgograd. Here he entered the Olympic Reserve School (OR), then played for the clubs of the Second League and eventually joined the Rotor.

According to the player, this event became very significant for him.

– This, one might say, was my childhood and youth dream. I studied in Volgograd and started my professional career. The boys constantly went to the Rotor games, served the matches. I think everyone had a dream – first you serve the balls, and then you get into the “Rotor” as a player, – said the player. – It doesn’t matter what league the team plays in. To get into this great club is, of course, an honor for me.

It is worth noting that Rizvan has been living in Volgograd for a long time. After several years of study in the city on the Volga, he moved to Maykop, where he played for Druzhba. But when he got married, he returned to Volgograd, where he studied at one of the universities of his wife. In the end, they decided to stay here.

The footballer before the start of the game played at a professional level in the championship of the Volgograd region. He played for Kamyshinsky “Tekstilshchik”, “Vodnik” from Kalach-on-Don, played a couple of matches for “Dynamo” from Nikolaevsk. At the age of 19, he became a player of the Volga Energia, which was a big step forward in his career.

After several years of playing for clubs in the Second League, Rizvan became the top scorer in the championship. As part of Chornomorets, he scored 18 goals.

When an offer was received from Rotor, the man immediately agreed to play for his long-time favorite club. Almost fulfilled his youthful dream. It is in the team that he would like to develop further.

– Of course, I want to improve in the class, and it is also important that this can be done as part of the Rotor. This is a double motivation for me,” he said.
