Rotenberg warned about the risk of Russia's turn to the East

Businessman Arkady Rotenberg said at the Eastern Economic Forum that the market of the East has always been of interest to Russia, but there is a risk in mastering this market.

Answering the question whether Eastern economies will be able to compensate for the losses of Russian business from Western sanctions, he noted that Chinese representatives are quite difficult negotiators and will do nothing without their own benefit.

“In India, partners are more talkative, but no less complex,” he added.

Rotenberg stated that Russia’s turn to the East had already taken place, but at the same time urged not only to let Eastern partners in, but also to fully enter the same Chinese market, since Russia has something to offer – from agricultural products to bioresources, education, chemistry and even religion.

“But rushing to the eastern partners on the neck will not lead to anything good,” the businessman warned, adding that love should be mutual.

He did not rule out that if Russia becomes a strong economy, then Western countries will want to “talk again” because globalization is over and there will be no more unipolar world as it was.
