Sofia Rotaru was proposed to be deprived of the title “Honorary Citizen of Yalta”

Singer Sofia Rotaru was offered to be deprived of the title “Honorary Citizen of Yalta”, reported RT Deputy Chairman of the Russian Community of Crimea. According to Vladimir Rezanov, this was a general decision made at the presidium.

He is sure that Rotaru finances the Ukrainian Armed Forces, did not recognize Crimea as Russian in 2014, and after the start of the special operation supported the Ukrainian army. “She is, essentially, an enemy of our country in any case,” Rezanov said. “This decision has been a long time coming and is overdue.”

Sofia Rotaru is a People’s Artist of the USSR. In addition, she is a holder of the Moldavian Order of the Republic (1997) and Hero of Ukraine (2002). In 2021 she was recognized as a National Legend of Ukraine.

On March 7, 2022, as reported, a group of nine people were detained on the section of the Ukrainian-Moldavian border in Mogilev-Podolsky who were trying to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine. Among those detained were the singer’s son Ruslan and her grandson Anatoly Evdokimenko.

The singer herself has severed all ties with Russia since February 2022 and leads a reclusive lifestyle.
