Rostrud: the number of idle workers decreased by 32% in three months

Over the past three months, the number of employees in idle state has decreased by 32%, the number of employees on unpaid leave – by 34%. The authorities are recording record low unemployment rates in the country. This was announced by the head of Rostrud Mikhail Ivankov at a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
Mr. Ivankov said that enterprises where there was a risk of problems with employment were assigned curators to help with possible problems. Rostrud also organized federally funded temporary work, provided employee training, and assisted workers who were at risk of losing their jobs.
“Over the past three months, we have reduced the number of idle workers by 32%. The number of workers in a state of part-time employment decreased by 39%, the number of workers who are in the unpaid leave mode decreased by 34%,” said Mr. Ivankov (quoted from site governments).
In turn, Mikhail Mishustin added that the level of employment in Russia shows record levels. “Most importantly, we managed to avoid mass unemployment. Moreover, employment is currently at record highs,” he said.
In October, the Ministry of Labor proposed extending the state employment support program to 2023, including the organization of temporary and public works, as well as the retraining of employees of industrial enterprises. At the Central Bank expect reduction in the number of workers in production due to partial mobilization.
