Rostov region offered to take the monument to Catherine II from Odessa

Deputies of the legislative assembly of the Rostov region took the initiative to take back to Rostov the monument to Catherine II, dismantled in Odessa, reports press office governments of the region.
The proposal was made by deputy Sergei Kosinov, who is convinced that the residents of the Rostov region will support the decision. The parliamentarian also suggested that the people of Donetsk are ready to help the cause with money. The initiative was approved by the governor of the region Vasily Golubev.
“I think it will be right. Great Catherine is still great! After Peter, it’s definitely the second one,” the head of the region said.
Details of how exactly it is planned to transport the object to the Rostov region are not specified. “We are doing this,” the governor concluded.
Monument to Empress Catherine II it was decided to dismantle at the end of November 2022. For the demolition of the monument in Odessa, 43 deputies of the city council voted out of 44, and 41 deputies voted for the dismantling of the monument to commander Alexander Suvorov. The object was installed in 1900 and since 2007 has been repeatedly subjected to acts of vandalism.
