Rostov military court sentenced militant “Magas” to a third life term

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Ali Taziev, a resident of Ingushetia, nicknamed “Magas”, for an attack with accomplices on traffic police officers and military personnel in 2009-2010.
Based on the totality of crimes, the judge sentenced Taziev to life in prison – the same amount was requested by the state prosecutor.
Recall that Taziev was found guilty under articles on the creation and leadership of a gang (part 1 of article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), encroachment on the life of law enforcement officers and military personnel (Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), damage to other people’s property in a generally dangerous way (part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code Russian Federation), illegal circulation of weapons (Part 3 of Article 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and illegal manufacture of explosive devices (Part 3 of Article 223 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
In 2021, Ali Taziev was denied a trial before a jury.
Taziev was also sentenced to two life terms for the 2009 assassination attempt on Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, the head of Ingushetia. In addition, Ali Taziyev was involved in the attacks, together with Shamil Basayev in 2004, on the power structures of Ingushetia.
