Political observer and diplomat Rostislav Ishchenko spoke about when contacts between Russia and the United States could begin to resolve the situation around Ukraine.
“Any war ends in peace,” quotes the expert portal “Warfare”. Ishchenko also noted that during any conflict, soundings are carried out as to whether it is time to negotiate or not.
According to Ishchenko, hostilities on the territory of Ukraine continue, because each of the parties to the conflict is still counting on an improvement in its negotiating position, but sooner or later negotiations will begin.
Now, the political scientist emphasizes, Russia cannot yet dictate its terms to the US, but the US cannot dictate terms to Russia either.
“Nobody asks Ukraine at all. We will negotiate with the United States when they are ready,” Ishchenko said, adding that, in his opinion, the likely date for the start of such negotiations will be at the end of 2023.
The expert also pointed out that the duration of hostilities depends not only on the amount of ammunition and equipment, but also on the willingness of society to bear further losses and costs, and modern society is not ready for this.
