Rostekhnadzor: every fifth elevator has exceeded its service life

According to the press service of Rostekhnadzor, about 20% of all existing elevators in Russia have reached a maximum service life of 25 years. According to RIA Novosti, according to the new rules, from March 1 of this year, Rostekhnadzor has been appointed the responsible body for state control over the safety of the use and maintenance of elevators and escalators.
Every year, up to 35,000 elevators are put into operation in Russia. At the moment, about 496,000 elevators are registered in the country, of which about 100,000 have already worked out their designated service life of 25 years, the ministry explained.
