The combat capabilities of the fifth-generation fighter Su-57 continue to increase; second-stage engines (“product 30”) will be installed on the vehicle. The first batch of modernized aircraft will enter service with the troops under the current contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to Rostec.
“The Su-57 platform is in the process of evolution, its combat capabilities are being improved, and advanced technologies are being introduced. The efficiency of the aircraft continues to increase. As for power plants, the Su-57 fighter is ready to use both the first and second stage engines. Even with the engine of the first stage, it meets the basic requirements for a fifth-generation aircraft,” Rostec noted.
Representatives of the state corporation emphasized that flight tests of the Su-57 with the second stage engine are currently underway, and within the framework of the current serial contract it is planned to supply aircraft with this new engine.
