Rostec has registered a device for rescuing patients with cardiac arrest

NPO Splav named after A.N. Ganicheva has registered an apparatus that can be used to rescue patients with cardiac and respiratory arrest. Its serial production will begin at the end of this year, reported press service of Rostec.

We are talking about the apparatus for emergency restoration of blood circulation LIFE STREAM ECMO weighing 9 kg, which, as stated, is not inferior to foreign analogues, but they are 30-40% cheaper. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) devices are used to maintain cardiopulmonary bypass in the patient’s body, as well as to saturate the blood with oxygen in acute respiratory failure. Such equipment may be necessary to rescue victims, for example, in an accident or fire.

“The domestic ECMO device developed at Splav has successfully passed the tests and received a registration certificate, that is, it is ready for delivery. It is much more economical in terms of cost and will help reduce mortality among patients in need of urgent resuscitation,” said Oleg Yevtushenko, Executive Director of Rostec.

Previously, such equipment was supplied only from abroad. The state corporation expects to meet the needs of the domestic market within three years. The device was developed jointly with the Central Research and Development Institute of Robotics and Technical Cybernetics.

At the end of March, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the need to increase the share of domestic drugs and strengthen independence from foreign pharmaceutical suppliers. The head of state set this task during the opening ceremony of new pharmaceutical production facilities in Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg and Saransk.

According to Putin, to achieve this, it is necessary to modernize equipment, build new production facilities, as well as “increase the human and material and technical potential of research laboratories and centers” and improve the training of pharmacists, pharmacists and technologists.
