Rosstat will switch to a new source of population data from 2025

From 2025, the federal population register will become the main source of information for compiling vital statistics (calculated as the absolute difference between the number of births and the number of deaths), a representative of Rosstat told Vedomosti. According to him, using the resource will make information about the number of births, marriages, divorces and deaths more detailed.

The department posted on the public procurement website an application for the preparation by November 2023 of recommendations on the use of data from the federal register of information about the population in statistics. The cost of the lot for the purchase is 4.5 million rubles. The contractor will have to draw up proposals that will help eliminate discrepancies in data on births between the data of the register itself, the USR registry office and the results of population censuses, follows from the terms of reference for the purchase. The federal register also contains data from registry offices, but in a more detailed form, and in addition, they are updated online and eliminate inaccuracies. In addition, Rosstat needs recommendations on the development of statistics based on new information.
