Rosstat recorded an increase in income inequality in Russia in 2023 – Kommersant

In 2023, in Russia, the Gini coefficient, which characterizes the degree of inequality in the distribution of income within population groups, increased to 0.403 compared to 0.395 a year earlier, follows from the Rosstat report on the socio-economic situation (.pdf). The closer the indicator is to zero, the lower the income inequality.
According to the report, for 2023 real accrued wages in the Russian Federation grew by 7.8%. The average monthly nominal salary at the end of last year, according to preliminary data, increased by 14.1% compared to 2022 and amounted to 73,709 rubles.
According to Rosstat, in December 2023, in real terms, accrued wages increased by 8.5% compared to December 2022. The average monthly salary in nominal terms in December 2023 was 103,815 rubles, an increase of 16.6% compared to December 2022.
