Rosstat placed a procurement for the preparation of recommendations on the collection of statistics on the population in the context of the main socio-demographic indicators in four new subjects of Russia – the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. The notice on the public procurement portal was published on April 10. The cost of the lot is 7 million rubles. Completion of work is scheduled for November 1, 2023, follows from the terms of reference. The agency will determine the executor by April 26.
Now Rosstat is carrying out an expert assessment of the population based on available information, primarily using administrative sources, a representative of Rosstat explained to Vedomosti. Data for the beginning of 2023 are presented without taking into account the population of new regions, the source added. “We propose to wait for the publication of Rosstat with an estimate of the country’s population as of January 1, 2024 (the appearance in the public domain is March-April 2024),” a representative of the department said, answering the question of when these data will be taken into account in the general statistics. According to the Federal Plan of Statistical Works, the population estimate is carried out once a year, he recalled.
