The number of people willing to test school food may be limited
A standard defining how and when parents will be able to personally find out what their children eat at school was issued by the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology. For now this is a temporary document, but with a high degree of probability we can say that everything will be as written in the preliminary standard (PNST).
One of the main rules is that representatives of the parent committee will be able to visit the school canteen or kitchen only with agreement with the administration of the educational institution. In addition, parents and legal representatives of children (guardians, immediate relatives) will have to create a public commission to monitor food safety in educational institutions. Only they will be able to get into the catering unit. In Moscow and some other regions of Russia, such rules are already in force.
In accordance with the PNST, the school administration or board of trustees will have the right to limit the size of the group of parent-controllers who will be able to simultaneously test breakfasts and lunches prepared for schoolchildren. In particular, it may depend on the capacity of the dining room. But parents will be able to determine the number of breaks during which they will be able to try what the school chefs have prepared.
Inspectors will be able to test food for taste and smell, check its compliance with the technological map (in other words, the recipe), and measure its temperature. If parents don’t like something, it will be possible to invite an independent expert organization that will accurately check whether schoolchildren are fed correctly.
