Rospotrebnadzor will not impose restrictions on the “kraken”

Rospotrebnadzor does not plan to introduce any restrictions in connection with the discovery of a new sub-variant of the COVID-19 strain “omicron” XBB.1.5 (“kraken”), reported in press service. Earlier today, January 12, the department fixed the first case of infection with a new strain in Russia.
A 32-year-old resident of Penza became the first variant of the Kraken coronavirus to become ill in Russia. According to Rospotrebnadzor, the disease was mild and on January 2 the woman recovered. The department noted that the sick person did not leave the region and Penza.
The first case of the XBB.1.5 variant was recorded in October in the United States. Also, the “kraken” is actively spreading in the UK and other European countries. According to experts, this is the most transmissible and contagious variant of COVID-19 among all existing ones. Nevertheless, Russian scientists and epidemiologists believe that the Kraken will not be able to turn the tide of the post-pandemic.
