Rospotrebnadzor told how to choose good flowers

Rospotrebnadzor shared tips on choosing a good bouquet: flowers should be with half-open buds and without additional decorations on them, and the stem should not be too dry.
“A good sign of freshness when buying flowers is the presence of a so-called “shirt” or “shirt sheet”. These are the lower, thicker and coarser petals that grow near the pedicel and frame the half-blown bud,” the experts write.
It is not uncommon for sellers to remove these lower petals to “ennoble” the bud’s appearance, experts say. Also, Rospotrebnadzor reminded that a petal of a fresh flower will quickly return to its place if it is slightly bent.
Another important sign of the freshness of the bouquet is the absence of artificial decorations. The fact is, they note in Rospotrebnadzor that fresh flowers are beautiful in themselves, and they do not need to be additionally decorated.
Another tip that will help prolong the life of the bouquet: do not leave the flowers for a long time without water, do not expose the flowers to sudden temperature changes, and trim the stems before placing them in a vase.
