The risks of importing legionellosis (“legionnaires’ disease”) to Russia and diseases on the territory of the country are excluded, the press service of Rospotrebnadzor reported. The agency assured that the situation at the checkpoints across the state border is controlled by specialists.
Legionellosis is an infectious disease that affects the lungs or their inflammation, as well as disorders of the nervous system. It is not transmitted from person to person.

An outbreak of the disease was registered at the end of August in the Polish region of Rzeszow. According to the latest data, the number of deaths from legionellosis in the area has risen to 16.
