Rospotrebnadzor has strengthened sanitary and quarantine control at checkpoints across the state border due to cases of plague in northern China. The risk of importation of infection is minimal, and the natural focus does not have a common border with Russia, noted in the department.
In the north of China, in Shilin-Gol (Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region), three cases of human infection with plague were recorded. About the first case of bubonic plague reported August 7, about the other two – August 13.
To the east, south and west Inner Mongolia borders with eight provinces and autonomous regions, in the north – with Mongolia and Russia.
Bubonic plague is a highly contagious disease spread mainly by rodents. In China, the number of diseases is small, in recent years, most of them are detected in Inner Mongolia and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, the agency said. Reuters.
