Rospotrebnadzor called the minimum risk of importation and spread of monkeypox

Rospotrebnadzor informedthat over the past three months, the world has detected almost 90% fewer new infections of cases of monkeypox than in previous months. The agency believes that the risk of its spread in Russia is minimal.
“The scientific institutions of Rospotrebnadzor provided the possibility of prompt laboratory diagnosis of all cases of the disease. Reagent kits were produced in sufficient quantities to detect this virus, as well as other orthopoxviruses. To date, the risks of importation and spread of monkeypox on the territory of the Russian Federation are minimal, ”the department assures (quoted by TASS).
Yesterday, May 11, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Ghebreyesus announced on the lifting of the public health emergency imposed in August 2022 due to the outbreak of monkeypox. On reducing the incidence of it, the head of WHO said back in October. The organization estimated the death rate from monkeypox at 3–6%. In Russia was confirmed two cases of infection.
